Indian woman injured in chapati blast

In a bizarre incident, a woman in Uttar Pradesh suffered burn injuries on her face, hands and midriff when the chapati she was making exploded, police said.

The incident took place on Wednesday in Ramgarh of Ferozabad district, some 300 km from Lucknow, when Rubina was making chapatis in her kitchen.

Rubina is being treated at a Ferozabad hospital and she is out of danger, police said.

The stock of flour used was sent for chemical analysis, Ferozabad Senior Superintendent of Police Raghuveer Lal said. He said there was a possibility that the flour contained some explosive and combustible granules.

The entire stock of the flour of a particular brand was seized and sent to a forensic laboratory in Agra, Lal said.

“The name of a Shahjahanpur flour mill was printed on the flour bag. We have also informed the Shahjahanpur police about the incident to know about the packaging and production of flour at the mill,” he added.
