Schoolgirl who ran in front of speeding bus saved by pile of snow

This schoolgirl escaped with barely a scratch when she was hit by a speeding bus - and landed right in a snowdrift.

It shows the apparently doomed Zhanna Sankina, 16, running right under the wheels of the bus as she runs across the road.

The youngster, from Orenburg, Russia, said: "When the bus smashed into me I didn't know what was going on. I just woke up and saw all the doctors around me."

Accident experts believe that the crash pushed Zhanna into a deep pocket of snow which absorbed the impact like shock-absorbing foam or an airbag. "She walked away with barely a bruise. On a sunny day she would have been dead," said one traffic cop.
