Amy, the world's biggest rabbit, dies of stage fright

Amy, the biggest rabbit in the world, died suddenly just before she was to star on a television show.

Amy, who was almost 1.3 metres long and almost weighed 20kgs, (three stone), is thought to have suffered a heart attack.

Owner Annette Edwards, 56, flew her from Britain to Milan specially to appear on the Italian version of a TV show Record Breakers. A day of filming proved too much for Amy, who had given birth to 32 babies.

“It is a mystery. She was healthy, not that old for a rabbit and the vet had deemed her fit to fly,” her devastated owner said.

Amy, a Continental Giant rabbit, was recognised by Guinness World Records last year as the world’s biggest bunny.

She ate two apples, a handful of carrots, half a cabbage, fresh hay and a dog-sized bowl of rabbit mix every day.
