For those purse snatchers who think an elderly woman is an easy target, they've never met 74-year-old Grace from Munhall. "We've lived long enough not to be pushed around," she said.
Just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Grace left the CoGo's on Main Street with a loaf of bread when she saw a woman coming towards her.
"A girl just looked at me and she had evil in her eyes. And she just looked mean. And she reached down and grabbed my purse and I held on real tight," Grace said.
With no thought about her own safety, Grace says she wasn't giving up her purse without a fight and it worked. The thief gave up and left empty handed.
"I started to beat her up with my loaf of bread and I just swung it at her about five times in the head and I said, 'Let go, let go,'" she said. "I had just been to the bank the day before that and had $200 out and I had all my cards they were all in order and I had a hard time getting these cards."
Grace says she didn't get a good description of her attacker because the woman was wearing a scarf over most of her face and hoodie-jacket over her hair.
