A top police officer has confessed to turning to prayer to catch criminals. Insp Roger Bartlett, 44, holds regular prayer meetings with local Christians to solve cases.
He said a prolific burglar was caught days after the group prayed for him to be put behind bars.
Insp Bartlett, of Devon and Cornwall police, asked his God squad to pray for the local crime detection rate when it was a poor 26 per cent.

He said: "Every quarter since, there has been an increase and now Barnstaple in Devon has a rate of just over 40 per cent."
The officer also claims prayers have cut road deaths. "I asked them to pray and there was a 67 per cent reduction - a figure well beyond even the best traffic officers.
"Many say this is just coincidence - but the more I pray, the more coincidences I seem to see."
