Spurned lover Nigel Hadley sought revenge when his partner broke up with him — by creating her profile on a prostitution website. The mother-of-two received sexually explicit messages and phone calls from strangers, Exeter magistrates heard.
She was also bombarded with texts from Hadley after she broke up the relationship, including one of a threatening nature.
Hadley, 55, subjected his victim, from Exmouth, to a frightening vendetta over a two- month period between December 3, 2009, and January 24, this year. During that time he was also accused of scattering tacks on her driveway — a claim he denies.
The victim called off the relationship, which had lasted four-and-a- half-years, the court was told. Hadley was angry when he discovered on her Facebook site that she was seeing another man and sent her “sarcastic congratulations”. Neil Lawson, prosecuting, said she received more than 100 unwanted texts and phone calls following the split.
Stephen Nunn, representing the defendant, said Hadley was sorry for what he had done but did not accept he put tacks on the woman’s driveway.
He said: “He was not happy with the break-up. There had been no major falling out and he moved back to live with his parents. It is unlikely he will reoffend and he’s of previous good character.” Magistrates adjourned the case until Wednesday, February 24, for probation reports.
