A youth who broke into a Turangi, New Zealand, house and prepared a bedroom for a romantic tryst with his girlfriend has been convicted of burglary.
Karlos Pokaia, 18, of Rotorua, admitted breaking into the house, "preparing" one of the bedrooms and taking his girlfriend back there to have sex.
He pleaded guilty when he appeared before Judge James Weir in Rotorua District Court this week.
Pokaia went to the house about 10pm on January 23 while the owners were away on holiday.
Police said he prepared one of the bedrooms for a romantic night with his girlfriend, and returned to the house a short time later with her to have sex.
Before they left, Pokaia stole two bottles of wine, a petty cash tin full of money and a key to the house, planning to return for another romantic liaison with his girlfriend. He told police he "needed somewhere to do his thing". Pokaia was remanded on bail for sentence on April 29.
