Town rejects application for its first-ever kebab shop

They have rejected tables outside a tea shop and neon lights in a store window – now Stow-on-the-Wold’s ambassadors have turned their attention to kebabs.

Known for turning up their noses at a raft of undesirable plans, town leaders says they are only trying to protect the town’s image.

Businessman Mustafa Dayan wants to sell kebabs, burgers, pizzas and chips from a takeaway in Sheep Street.

He wants to convert traditional stove and chimney shop Fosse Fires into the fast food outlet, opening until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

But Stow Town Council planning committee says the shop would lead to smells, noise and vermin.
