Australian bus stolen twice on same night

A man and woman are facing court after a courtesy bus was stolen twice on the same night on the Central Coast.

At about 9pm, the courtesy bus left the Tumbi Umbi licensed premises to make a number of stops in the Tuggerah Lakes area. The driver had stopped outside a hotel on The Entrance Road at Long Jetty and went inside to ask directions regarding his last passenger – a 75-year-old woman.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man has entered the bus and allegedly driven off with the 75-year-old still on board. He stopped the bus a short distance later and let the woman leave. The 75-year-old woman contacted police who arrested the man in Boomerang Street after a short foot chase. The woman was not injured during the incident.

A roadside breath analysis proved positive and the 27-year-old Hammondville man was arrested and taken to The Entrance Police Station. A subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.202.

Meanwhile, it will be alleged a 44-year-old woman has seen the bus parked on Boomerang Street, got onto the bus and drove the vehicle away. Police stopped the bus on Boomerang Street and arrested the woman. She was taken to The Entrance Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.175. Police believe the woman was not a part of the earlier incident.

A 27-year-old man was charged with high range PCA, stealing a motor vehicle and entering enclosed lands. He was refused bail and will appear at Gosford Local Court today. A 44-year-old Blue Bay woman was charged with high range PCA and stealing a motor vehicle. She has been granted bail to appear in Wyong Local Court on 12 May.
