A 12-month-old baby boy in Australia miraculously escaped serious injury when a car smashed into a home and ran over him as he played on the floor yesterday.
A red Commodore driven by a 17-year-old on his P-plates ploughed into the house in the Adelaide suburb of Morphett Vale at 9.15am and hit the baby, who was in a front room.
Reports from the scene indicate the car literally ran over the child as he played on the floor - but the vehicle passed over him and did not cause serious injuries. There are suggestions a wheel may have passed over the child's head, but these have not been confirmed.
The baby has been taken to Flinders Medical Centre for treatment but police say his injuries do not appear to be serious. An SA Ambulance Service spokesman said the baby is in a stable condition.
