It's no wonder they named this animal after a deadly sin.

Sloth faces are unbearably cute!

They can allegedly move pretty swiftly if they want to..  According to Donald Moore - sloth scientist : "One female took a dislike to me. I'm one of the only sloth biologists who's been bitten," he said. "They can use their big claws and slash out. But what she did was run at me, upside down along a vine, as fast as a cat would run along the floor. She grabbed me and pulled my hand to her mouth and then bit. It all happened very quickly."

I never thought I ever would say this about David Attenborough, but I agree with Ratz here: David Attenborough is wrong on this animal.

A sloth may try to live as slow as possible, but it really can move quite fast and it can do a hell of hurt woth those claws. And it's claws can give you nasty wounds with ugly inflamations.
Mostly a sloth will not be agressive, but when it feels the need to act in self-defence, it can be a real pain in the ass for any predator.

I was in belfast zoo recently and discovered a sloth that looked like an old mop head sitting warming its arse atop an emergency exit sign.  I gave it a very gingerly stroke but it woke up and looked at me and stretched some quite impressive claws that were evidentially not for decorative purposes, so delighted I'd patted a sloth, I bid a hasty retreat.
