Man blames Parkinson's disease medication for 'compulsive generosity'

A golf official who blamed embezzling more than £60,000 for holidays and gifts on the effects of his Parkinson's disease medication has avoided jail.

George McIntosh, 53, of Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, said the drugs gave him "compulsive generosity".

He admitted embezzling the money from the Scottish Golf Union and Newmachar Golf Club and then "lavished gifts" on friends.

Sheriff Annella Cowan ordered him to carry out 200 hours of community service and pay his victims compensation. McIntosh said afterwards: "I am in quite a bit of shock. I was expecting to get jailed."

Wow...  I wonder if the next guy to use this excuse will get away with it, too.
