A British law professor is slamming Air Canada after the airline left him asleep on a plane for 90 minutes after it landed — and he woke up in a hangar at Vancouver International Airport. Kris Lines says he's not satisfied with the airline's claim that the flight attendant was preoccupied with several wheelchair passengers and didn't check the rest of the cabin.
"It's absolute craziness," said the 31-year-old, who is head of sports law at Staffordshire University. "The last thing I remember was taking off from Calgary. I knew I was safely on board and there was no further destinations and it was all good," Lines added. "Somebody would wake me up at the end."
What he didn't expect was to be roused by a mechanic after the Air Canada Jazz plane was towed into a hangar at YVR. Lines said that when the Vancouver mechanic woke him, he was disoriented and in a rush to grab his bags and jacket and get off the plane.
"He said, 'Don't worry. You should have got off an hour-and-a-half ago,' " Lines recalled. "They took me off the plane down the steps into a hangar, took me into a room, photocopied my boarding pass and said, 'This sort of thing shouldn't be happening. Somebody's neck's going to be on the line for this.'"

Yeah... or you could just WakeTFU. Who sleeps THAT soundly on an airplane anyhow? Even with a drink or two in me the altitude drop wakes me up.
Your and Demelza's reactions completely astound me. First of all it's really odd that you can't comprehend that some people sleep more soundly than you. Are you under the impression that everyone is just like you? Second, if you think it's not reasonable to expect the cabin crew to make sure there are no passengers left on the plane when they themselves leave, then I guess there's nothing you should expect from them.
I'm just flabbergasted that someone could blame the man himself of what happened to him.
Who's this guy think he is...a pilot.
I'm with Atypical Kansan. I don't see how anyone could sleep that soundly on an airplane.
And if you know that you do sleep that soundly, it's up to you to make sure you have a way to wake up. If the captain's voice and the sound (and movement) of other passengers disembarking isn't enough to rouse you... well, you might have a medical problem that needs to be looked at.
What were the flight attendants supposed to do? Whack him on the head?
What if the guy had some kind of accident when in the air like a stroke or a blood clot and was unable to wake up, also leaving a man on board brings up issues of how safe these planes are.
With half a dozen air Stewart's on a plane for international flights im sure even one of them could look for sleeping or possibly dead passengers left on board
Indeed. This is utterly the fault of the cabin crew. The fact the man was just sleeping seems to muddle the water, had he been dead, nobody would be denying the fact the stewards failed to do their job before leaving the plane.
