Red-faced bosses at Tesco have apologised after a rude message appeared on a petrol station price board in Coventry. Stunned motorists alerted staff after spotting the profanity printed on the price panel for super unleaded at the Walsgrave branch of Tesco in Dorchester Way, during rush hour on Monday morning.
The joker also spelled out SHI.T and the name JOE where the price for city diesel fuel should be. Hundreds of drivers passed the sign, which was visible for over an hour.
One motorist said: ‘’I took a double take when I saw the letters spelling SHI.T where the price for super unleaded normally is. Perhaps a worker is trying to give his opinion of the high petrol prices.’’
Tesco yesterday apologised to customers. A spokesman said: ‘’This is clearly a childish prank and we apologise to customers for any offence caused.’’
