The world's largest collection of banana memorabilia - which was in danger of being split up - has been saved.
The future of the collection, housed at the world's first Banana Museum in California, had been in doubt after owner Ken Bannister was forced to move.
The American enthusiast has been collecting banana paraphernalia since 1972. He had to put everything from his banana-shaped golf putter to his banana costume in storage until he found a buyer.
Mr Bannister adverstised his world record-approved collection on eBay and eventually found a new home for the artifacts.
Buyer Fred Garbutt plans to open the new banana museum next door to his off-licence in California - hoping the 17,000 banana-related items will attract more customers.
The brand new International Banana Museum is set to open next January in North Shore, California.
