Council's £70,000 concrete block playground removed - Update

Concrete blocks installed at a play park in Sunderland instead of swings and slides are to be removed.

The £70,000 revamp of Diamond Hall Pocket Park, in which plinths and platforms replaced more traditional play equipment, led to some complaints.

Councillor James Blackburn, of Sunderland Council, said the changes were being made given the "strength of feeling" over the park's design. The blocks will now be used as boundary markers for local allotments.

I just don't see how that was ever approved in the first place... especially in the Nanny State.  Aren't those blocks tripping hazards?
