A man killed in a motorbike crash in Hertfordshire on the day he was due to retire was a senior university lecturer, police have revealed.
Dr William Revell, 64, from Welwyn Garden City, died on 14 May when his Suzuki motorbike and a Toyota pick-up collided in the town's Hertford Road.
Dr Revell was due to retire from London Metropolitan University later that day.
A 21-year-old man from Northamptonshire was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and was bailed until July.
In a statement, Dr Revell's wife Val said her husband had given his last lecture on bioethics two days before he died and had received a standing ovation from his students.
The pair had been planning to move to Norfolk and travel through India on a cruiser motorcycle, she added.
