I feel your pain Kev. When my work dried up, thats what I did. I'm selling off my Planet of the Apes prop collection. Admittedly a odd hobby anyway but it will be sad to see it go.
...one of the reasons i spend too much time on the internet as well lately.... - out of a job & not much in sight, holiday's coming, so no hiring.... :( all the best, Kev at least you cheer up my (our) day
Have you considered adding some type of "tip jar" to the top of the right sidebar? It probably wouldn't generate huge income, but considering your extensive readership, even small tips might make a significant contribution.
A lot of blogs ask for donations... small stuff. Like on bits and pieces you can see something that says "Buy Jonco a beer". I suppose that is one way to go.
Funny how walked out my job 2 days ago. I feel your pain Kev.
I pet sit. I don't even advertise--word of mouth brings in more clients. I love animals, I get lots of exercise, and the extra money (over and above my pension) makes a world of difference.
Here in my country a nice way to earn some extra income is to grow some cannabis. But be careful to cover your tracks energywise and with the daylightlamps and the smell....
i got a guy growing "that" in the neighbourhood : smells nice, when it's a misty morning.... (and yes, he's got some dutch friends passing by from time to time - why oh why one would wonder) :-D

...Write to that guy and offer your assistance to him....?
No but seriously- I hope you find something quick.
Are you good with your hands?
Perhaps build stuff and sell on ebay?

You could start running ads. It doesn't have to be a lot of ads, considering your readership.
Pimp out your page with ads!!! (S'okay wont be an annoyance because the smart folks have adblock and can't see them anyway).
Get a public sector job and then you'll get all the inside scoops!!!
I would definitely contribute to a tip jar here... this is my fave blog, and a daily must for me!
Regarding the ad, I'm guessing the errors and corrections are deliberate... kind of a gimmicky way of putting her work on display.

<span>I'd go for the "tip jar" as well. Might be helpful.

I vote for the Tip Jar.
Is there a different way to say that in Scottish?
"Buy Kev a Pint!"? Do you know Gaelic Kev?
The ads also wouldn't bother me but if you did that you should also get on Twitter and Facebook with Arbroath to further increase the readers.
Love ya!
