Chinese herbalists grow Homer Simpson

TV's favourite family looks like its getting back to its roots - after this astonishing replica of cartoon dad Homer Simpson was dug out of the ground by herbalists.

The root - from the fo-ti plant, used to give patients vitality - amazed fans with its bulging eyes and potato shaped heard, just like the animated version.

Healer Ming Huang who unearthed the lookalike root in Youxian, southern China, explained: "This root often emerges from the ground in the shape of a man.

"But this is the first time we've seen one quite like this who had a proper face and features."
