Girl trapped in washing machine in hour-long saga

A three-year-old girl in eastern China has been freed from a washing machine by firefighters, after being stuck for more than an hour. The girl had climbed in to play when her legs got caught in the machine.

Emergency services worked for an hour to cut the girl free, with the entire rescue filmed by Chinese state media.

With her arms and shoulders only visible above the top of the machine and sipping on a bottle of milk for comfort, the girl was not harmed during the incident.

She was taken to hospital for an examination but not before a stern telling-off from her mother.
