A Wallingford tree is attracting a steady stream of people to come and take a look at the mysterious image in its bark. The elm tree in front of 394 North Main St. has become a bit of a tourist attraction. Suddenly people are stopping to get a glimpse of what some people believe is the image of Jesus Christ.
"I walk here all the time. Never thought of looking up, but if I looked up, I think I would've stopped and taken a look at it,” commented Carolyn Massoni of Wallingford. Massoni and her daughter Marylou McNamara wanted to see for themselves and they're convinced there is something special there.
"It's definitely there,” said McNamara, also of Wallingford. “You can definitely see it. I think there could be something to it, just the way it's formed,” Massoni added.
The man who owns the house says he didn't notice the face until just a few days ago when someone pointed it out to him. Now, he says it's all he sees. "Oh, it's kind of weird,” David Doolittle said. “I walk through the hallway of the house. I can see Him looking in at me. It's like every move you make, you know."
Doolittle says there used to be a low-hanging limb coming from the spot on the tree, but the town cut it down three or four years ago. The “face” apparently just appeared within the past few days. Doolittle is glad that it did. Though he has no idea what the image may bring him either in terms of good fortune or curious visitors.
"I talked to a priest about it and he's like, 'images come and go, you don't know what to make of it,'" David Doolittle continued. “But you believe what you believe.” Doolittle says he now believes, just like Carolyn Massoni and her daughter.

Could b someone from a heavy metal band like Rob Zombie or Hagrid even, there are loads of folk in the world that look like this!
Hey that's one of those guys from ZZ-Top!
Looks like an alien with a stripe down the middle of its face to me.
Why do people always assume it is jesus? It could be the guy who planted the tree, or someone thet fell out of it and died.
Because people want to see Jesus, of course. That's how this stuff works.
So, I'm wondering. Are these "sightings" becoming more common nowadays -- i.e. are people more anxious to see a holy apparition? Or is it more fashionable to report them? Or is it just because of the internet that they get more publicity? Or it it just this blog?
You probably get payed by the paper to report it.
