Pot calls kettle black

Former Conservative cabinet minister David Mellor was taped yelling foul-mouthed abuse at a chef as he ranted about noise from a restaurant near his home. He called Stephane Ale a “fat bastard” and shouted: “F*** off and do your £10-an-hour job somewhere else.”

The astonishing outburst came as Stephane, 37, stood taking a break on the balcony of the River Lounge restaurant which is near Mellor’s home and overlooks his garden.

The former National Heritage Secretary has complained about noise coming from the restaurant and the invasion of his privacy. A licensing hearing was told on Tuesday that staff at the restaurant, near London’s Tower Bridge, secretly recorded Mellor after getting fed up with his offensive rants. Edmond, 24, said: “It just isn’t fair.

“We weren’t even doing anything and we get that level of abuse. He thinks he can do and say whatever he wants. I don’t care if he’s rich. I love my job. The tape gives the true flavour of the tone of Mr Mellor – an aggressive and intimidating tone. The tape is the best evidence of this conduct.” Mellor who resigned from the cabinet in 1992 after actress Antonia de Sancha revealed intimate details of their affair, claims noise and rowdiness at the bar ruins his enjoyment of his palatial 19th century home.

Aw, poor baby; the big bad city is to lively for him. Maybe he should move to Yeovil. I hear it's quiet there -- nothing to do but watch Bongobongoland play football on the telly.
