State Highway Patrol troopers got into more monkey business on Monday evening than they cared to.
A meat-processing plant truck lost control on a curve and went into a ditch at 5:19 p.m., trooper Steve Robison said.
The truck, stuck on its side, spilled all of the animal carcasses on the road. The driver, shaken but in good condition, was taken to a nearby hospital.
But a pet monkey the driver had in his truck escaped and climbed up a utility pole. Robison said troopers eventually coaxed the monkey down and tethered it to a tree on a long leash.
ODOT workers and Medina County engineers were called to clean up the mess left by the carcasses while an Ohio Farms truck came to pick up the carcasses.
Robison said the crash is still under investigation and the driver has not been charged at this time.
