A. Hitler, E. Braun, J. Stalin and N. Mandela have all lived – in the same terraced house in Barking, it emerged yesterday. The bizarre list of historical figures are all recorded as previous residents of 26 Bradfield Drive, Barking, which unsurprisingly – was predominately student accomodation. The Electoral Register shows that an E. Peron, who shares the name of the First Lady of Argentina, also lived in the £145,000 terrace until November 29, 2000.
And an E. Pankhurst – who shares the same surname as the famous suffragette who died in 1928 – moved out on the same day, along with J. Stalin. A month earlier, an A. Hitler also moved out. Two years earlier an E. Braun moved out on April 1, 1998. Strangely, a person called I. Con also moved out of the house on the same date in 1996. The house, which has now been converted into flats, also provided shelter for an N. Mandela until December 31, 1998.
Residents in the street say the flats were rented by students in the late 1990s before being converted into a terraced house after 2000. Neighbour Carol Ingleton, 62, has lived on the street for 20 years and remembers the residents as ”jokers”. She said: ”There were a group of young men and women living in the flats back then.
”They were students and I remember they were quite lively. It’s no surprise that they did that. They were madcap and kept the other residents on their toes.” The list was discovered on Tracesmart UK, an online database which collects information taken from the Electoral Register. A spokeswoman for the UK Deed Poll Service said: ”These people must have changed their names officially in order to appear on the Electoral Register.”
