A Renton man allegedly found near a busy street naked and surrounded by sex toys and women's clothes has been charged with felony indecent exposure. A woman walking with her daughter on Aug. 5 spotted what they believed to be a woman lying face down about 10 feet off of Southwest Sunset Boulevard. The person – later identified as David Alonzo Brown – appeared to be holding a green, 12-inch-long sex toy in one hand while his other was positioned under his body. Hearing the subject making what they described as "girl noises," the witnesses contacted police.
Arriving at the scene, Renton officers found Brown naked except for a woman's halter top and bright blue eye shadow, according to charging documents. Brown tried to flee but was taken into custody nearby carrying the sex toy and a pair of leopard print heels. "On the ground near the subject was an opened jar of what appeared to be petroleum jelly and there were many used tissues scattered on the ground," a Renton officer told the court. "Hanging on a nearby tree, I saw what appeared to be a woman's black nightgown." A search revealed a second sex toy and a small mirror.
Writing the court, the officer said the woman and her 12-year-old daughter were distraught by the scene. The girl was crying and reluctant to discuss what she'd seen. Asked by officers whether he placed himself near the road in order to have people see him, Brown allegedly admitted to doing so. Speaking with officers, Brown said he takes off his clothes when he smokes marijuana or takes other drugs.
"It's like an addiction and I need some help," Brown told officers, according to the charging document. I'm mad at myself and shouldn't have done this," he is alleged to have continued. "I'm 53 years old and I'm too old to be dealing with this. I have this condition and I need to go to treatment. … I never touched no kids or raped nobody. I only do things to myself. I love people." A homeless man living in a tent 20 yards from the site of the incident, Brown has previous convictions for indecent exposure. Asking that he be held on $100,000 bail, a senior deputy prosecutor noted that Brown "has some rather significant sexual deviancy issues that he needs to deal with."
