A one-legged flasher who exposed himself to teenage girls from the window of his home has escaped jail. Pervert Graham Shepherd, 48, was arrested after he repeatedly exposed himself and performed sex acts in front of teenage girls walking past his home. When interviewed by police Shepherd claimed he could not have committed the offences because he would have been unable to balance on one leg.
However, the court heard evidence from medical experts that he could have exposed himself at the window and remain ‘’stable”. Judge Jeremy Gold QC sentenced Shepherd, who lost his leg to diabetes, to a three year community order with supervision at Maidstone Crown Court, Kent. He said: ”Flashing out of your window has got to stop – and it has got to stop now. This sort of behaviour is intolerable.
”I am singularly unimpressed that having behaved in this manner you had the audacity to deny it to the police in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. I do not hesitate to say that had you not been as cooperative as you were and you were not suitable for a sex offenders’ programme, you would be going to prison today. You can put this extraordinary behaviour behind you.”
Shepherd, who lives in Dartford, Kent, flashed a 13-year-old girl in January this year leading police to set up a covert camera on his living room window. The following month a 17-year-old girl reported seeing him flashing and performing a sex act as she crossed the road with a female friend. Shepherd was arrested in March and has now been given a sexual offences prevention order and ordered to sign the sexual offences register for five years.
