Boozehound necks shot glass

A German pointer had to undergo emergency surgery after downing a shot - glass and all - at a party in Australia. Billy is now recovering well after a three hour operation to remove the glass from his stomach.

He knocked back the shot of Jagermeister when his owner was on holiday and his dog-sitting housemates decided to throw a party. It wasn't until a few days later, when Billy began vomiting blood, that his dog-sitters realised something was wrong.



The worried housemates took Billy to the vets where an x-ray revealed a shot glass in his stomach. According to Billy's owner, the inquisitive pup would have seen "everyone else having a whole lot of fun and thought 'I want to have a good time too, I'll try their drink myself'".

She added: "I'm not sure whether Jagermeister is his drink of choice now, after what happened." However, one thing is for sure, she said, her dog was "definitely not invited" to any parties in the future. "And we'll put the shot glass and the X-ray photo in a frame and put it up on the wall where he can see it - I hope it reminds him of alcohol abuse."
