Man arrested with $1540 in cash tied to scrotum

A Florida man was arrested last week by crime enforcement officers who discovered more than $US1500 strapped to his scrotum. Steven Black, a defendant in a criminal proceeding for identity theft and petty credit card fraud, had allegedly attached the money to his crotch with a shoelace, according to a police affidavit. Black was arrested on Monday along with four others after a police chase ended in disaster for the group.

The chase was initiated after the petty criminals allegedly fled a Missouri bank where he and his accomplices had attempted to cash a fake check using a stolen drivers licence. Mysteriously, the help of the secret service was required to bring down the small time crime gang. According to the affidavit of US Secret Service agent Bryce Husack: "A search of Steven Black pursuant to his arrest revealed $1540 in currency tied to his scrotum with a shoelace".

The affidavit gave no indication as to why Black had not used a wallet nor did it reveal the denomination of the bills attached to his genitals. Black and his associates were involved in a scam using driver’s licences stolen from cars to obtain credit cards and forge bad checks, which they then attempted to cash at various financial institutions.

One of Black's companions, Tara Funk, described by Agent Husack as a "white female", alerted police to the group's activities when she attempted to make a withdrawal from a Missouri bank for thousands of dollars with a bad cheque and a fake identity. Suspicious tellers alerted police who then gave chase before the group crashed their getaway car into a light pole. Black has previous convictions including cocaine possession, grand theft, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest and marijuana possession.
