A Hanover man was arrested for elderly abuse after his father was found alone on the floor inside his Brookwood Road home covered in excrement.
Police went to the home on Monday afternoon to check on a tip. Once inside, they found the 93-year-old alone, lying in excrement and dressed only in a T-shirt and diaper, according to a police report.
John T. Hallinan, 68, allegedly left his father duct-taped while he went to work. Hallinan has been held at Plymouth County Jail pending a hearing at Hingham District Court.
The police report also stated that the father was found “extremely thin, dirty, and had severe swelling of both ankles, both of which were approximately at least a foot around in diameter.” Hallinan’s father was listed in fair condition at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
