92-year-old banned from libraries for advances on female librarians

Martin County library patron Herbert Johnson, 92, has been given a trespass warning to keep out of public libraries because he allegedly was making unwanted advances upon female librarians.

A librarian at Blake Library in Stuart, Florida, complained that Johnson, of the 3400 block of Southeast Martinique Trace, Stuart, sent her inappropriate gifts and letters, which she refused or tore up, according to a sheriff’s report.

Then he allegedly left at the library’s front desk a letter “containing sexually explicit language stating what (he) wanted to do to” her, according a deputy’s report. Also the report says Johnson had made unwanted approaches to another female employee.

A sheriff’s deputy went to Johnson’s house on Wednesday and gave him a trespass warning for all county libraries. Johnson was told that if he didn’t stop, charges could be filed against him for stalking.
