Drunk driver blamed crash on non-existent dogs

A 50-year-old man from Thompson who crashed into a house in Webster, Mass., tried blaming dogs he claimed were running loose inside his truck, police said.

James. J. Johnson said the dogs make him lose control of his vehicle. But Webster police officers determined there were no dogs.

Officers also determined Johnson had been drinking, police said. Johnson was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and destruction of property.

The accident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. Police found the truck resting on the steps of a residence on Lower Gore Road. When asked if he had been drinking, Johnson said his brother had been drinking. No one was injured in the crash.
