Poster error offers a game of "indoor bowels"

A billboard poster in Salford will be ripped down after a spelling mistake invited bowls enthusiasts for a game of "indoor bowels".

Council leader John Merry said he would investigate the blunder, which appeared on a poster advertising a sports facility in Salford Quays.



Salford Community Leisure said its signage company had used an old design which contained the error. The printing firm fully accepted responsibility, the organisation added.

The poster had only been put up a few hours before the mistake was noticed by a member of the public. It will be now be replaced by a new sign with the correct description of "indoor bowls".
