Woman flees assault attempt with assailant’s pants

A 30-year-old woman fought off an assault, grabbing a knife a male assailant was wielding in an attempt to hurt her, before fleeing a vehicle on foot with the man’s pants in tow on St. Paul Street in Rochester. Lt. Laura Grande of the Rochester Police Department said that the incident occurred at 360 St. Paul St. shortly before 2 a.m.

Grande said the woman was in an SUV in a parking lot near the St. Simon Terrace apartment building when a fight broke out between the two inside the vehicle. The man pulled knife, but the woman grabbed it, then told police she attempted to stab the male.

The woman, whose identity was not released, then fled the vehicle, taking the man’s pants and the knife with her. Grande said the woman suffered minor injuries in the incident, which remains under investigation.

It is unknown if the male was injured, Grande said. Police were searching for the man, who was reported to be wearing just a shirt, with no pants or underwear, when he fled the scene in the dark-colored SUV.
