Women stuffed liquor bottles up their skirts

As the old saying goes 'Where there's a will, there's a way' but as a couple of bottle thieves recently found out a skirt can really come in handy. In the past few days, distraction thieves struck at two Hallandale Beach liquor stores with the female robbers using their skirts to mask their crimes.

Surveillance video from both stores shows women sticking large bottles of liquor underneath their skirts, wedging them between their thighs and then walking out of the stores. On one of the videos a woman is caught on camera sticking at least two bottles of liquor in a purse. The manager of one store - DPF Liquors on Hallandale Beach Boulevard - said three women and a man stole eight bottles altogether, including $200 during a stop in the store on Sunday night.

"They're professionals," Alexis Cruz said. "Anybody that's good at their job, you can't beat them at their job. We're just gonna have to pay a lot more attention. Lesson learned." Cruz said the three women strolled through the aisles while the man ordered a large amount of liquor for a party. Once the women left the store, the man left, buying no more than a $5 bottle of alcohol.

The general manager of Sweeney's Liquors just west of DPF Liquors said a trio of people - two women and a man came into the store late last Thursday night. The store is located directly across the street from a Broward Sheriff's Office substation. Surveillance video shows one woman sticking a bottle of Grey Goose between her legs before walking out. A man in a blue shirt distracted the clerk, Emad Abdelquader, before she left. "It happened "quicker than I could see it," Abdelquader said. "They got us this time but it ain't gonna happen again."
