Two would-be robbers walked into the business, one stayed near the door and the other pulled out a machete. The one with the machete threatening Patel and ordered him to fill a bag with money.
Patel calmly stirred his coffee and then took action, pulling out, of all things, a feather duster. That, plus a 911 call, was enough to scare the suspect into running off.
"The guy come in right here, with the machete and I get robbed," Patel said. Before he left, the suspect did swing the machete a few times, taking a chunk out of the counter and shattering the glass on the ice cream cooler. Nobody was hurt.
