The calf was rescued after more than 24 hours stuck down the hole in a village in the east of India. The elephant calf was rescued after villagers dug a passage into the well to help it escape.

The accident was blamed on mass deforestation and poaching in the area which have forced the elephants to move out of their natural habitats in search of food and water.
