A BBC sports reporter stunned viewers when he made an embarrassing hash of Eric Cantona's name live on air. Sportsday host Olly Foster accidentally let slip the C-word.
It came at 22.43 on Wednesday night's BBC News24 as Mr Foster discussed a video promoting the Frenchman's appointment as director of soccer at MLS side the New York Cosmos. The clip saw Cantona puffing on a giant cigar before leaning through a haze of smoke to declare: 'We're back'.

A chuckling Mr Foster then said: 'How cool is that? Great to see. Eric C*** . . . Cantona.' His fellow presenter Chris Eakin hurriedly tried to cover the gaffe, saying: 'Thanks very much Olly. He's obviously enjoyed making films and you can see the effect.'
A BBC spokesman said: 'There was an unfortunate slip of the tongue on Sportsday last night when Eric Cantona's name was mispronounced. We've apologised to Eric - and we're sorry if any viewers were offended.'
