A postman is suing a dog owner for compensation after he was forced to kneel in front of the body of the pet pooch for two hours after knocking it down in a road crash.
Owner Lei Tsao, 34, was furious when a mail van killed his pedigree shih tzu when it dashed into the road outside his home in Suzhou, eastern China. So he ordered driver Jin Hung, 23, and his assistant to either pay him £500 for a new dog or kneel and pray in front of his pet's body for two hours.
Now the postman is suing Tsao for £2,0000 claiming he caused him "shame and humiliation" after mobile phone snaps were posted on the internet.
"It was not his fault the dog wasn't on a lead and ran straight into the road. But the owner was very angry and threatening and he was afraid he would hurt him if he didn't do what he said," a lawyer handling the case said.

The owner has every right to be mad at the mailman. How could this ever be a case?
Brixter, you're joking, right?
If the dog wasn't on a lead and ran into the road I can't see the postman being at fault unless he aimed for the dog.
If it were a unavoidable accident then the dogs owner had every right to be sad but making the driver pray over the dog was just bullying.
the driver accepted the settlement offer voluntarily no backsies
The guy chose to pray instead of pay. It's in bad taste to sue. Besides, what's so humiliating about showing remorse for taking a life? Or is life worth so little there?
For two hours?
It was probably involuntary too. In China, public pressure is enormous. Pictures of you would be posted all over chinese forums and the netizens find you through human flesh-searching.
