Goggles banned at school swimming lessons

Children have been banned from wearing goggles during school swimming lessons for fears they could hurt themselves.

Pen-pushers have slapped the ban on the swimming aids amid "fears" a pair could "snap" onto a child's face too hard, injuring them. Parents branded the ruling by Oxfordshire County Council's healthy and safety brigade as "nutty" and "extreme."

However, bureaucrats defended its no-goggle policy claiming that it reflected national guidance provided by sports bodies. Children will now need a medical reason for them to be allowed to wear the protective eye wear in the pool during school lessons.

A spokesman for Oxfordshire County Council refused to divulge the specific reason why goggles had been banned from its swimming pools. "This local authority, like others throughout the UK, reflects to schools the national guidance provided by various governing sport bodies on this issue," he said.

Thats just stupid. I always understood that goggles were used in pools to keep the eyes free from contact with chlorinated water. It stings the eyes.

Despite hundreds of letters begging them to stop, these are the same retards who're closing 20 of the Oxfordshire libraries. Libraries are a service just as much as health.

I know it's wrong to laugh at mentally retarded people, but these council members are just ridiculous. It's like they sit around trying to come up with ways to make themselves look like they have an IQ of 20.

I think maybe they're all suffering brain damage from snapping their goggles onto their faces one too many times. I've never actually seen anyone do such a thing, but then, I'm not usually around people with the brain power of a turnip.

Why they should banned swimming lessons at school? It is a one way for students to learn the proper way of swimming. Parents do pay for it and there's no reason to stop the swimming lessons at schools.
