"Not exactly what we would have expected." I think that's exactly what to expect from an anxious, over-wrought dog that's been poorly socialized and possibly abused. I was kind of expecting her to take off the guy's hand actually.
A friend lost her 14 year old Shih Tzu to a rescued Rottweiller last month. Both were on leash. The Rottweiller broke the little one's neck and played with it like a dog toy.
Unbelievably, the Rottweiller was released to a 'save' group in another part of the state. The dog had been given up for adoption because it had bit the face of the baby of the previous owners.

Part of the problem is that the powerful and vicious breeds are attractive to dumb and irresponsible pet owners.
