An overnight house fire burned a Richmond woman from her home on Monday morning. Annitta Bullock was not home when the fire started.
She showed up at her Spotsylvania Street home as CBS 6 reporter Lorenzo Hall was reporting on the fire live on television. "What happened to my house!" Bullock asked. Fire crews told her the home she rented caught on fire.
Bullock says was staying at a friend's house and had no idea that her home caught on fire. She says she moved into the home in November and that this is the first time she has lived by herself. That, along with recent break-ins in the area, is the reason why she went to stay with friends. "I don't like being in the house by myself," Bullock said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Bullock says she leaves on the lights and television when she leaves, but that there were no candles burning inside her home. The Red Cross is helping find Bullock a new place to stay.
