Abandoned cat has heart mark

This abandoned cat has become a heart-throb with animal carers after they noticed she bore a unique marking on her side – a perfect heart. Black and white ‘Bette Davis’ was handed in to Gables Farm Dogs’ and Cats’ Home last month looking dishevelled and emaciated after she was dumped by her previous owners.

But staff at the home in Plymouth, Devon, were stunned when they went to pick up the black and white two-year-old cat and spotted the distinctive heart-marking on her side.

Carer Katie Barkell said: ”We were gobsmacked when we first saw her. The heart shape is perfect and completely unique. We’ve never seen a cat, or dog for that matter, like her and we’ll be sad to see her go.”

Bette is one of dozens of cats currently waiting to be re-homed at the centre in Plymouth, Devon.
