Showering intruder calls 911, afraid homeowner may have gun

A man in a Southwest Portland home called 911 for assistance on Monday evening, only the caller was an intruder caught showering as the actual owner arrived home.

According to Portland Police, a trespassing suspect entered a home at the 2700 block of Southwest Rutland Terrace and at some point decided to take a shower in the bathroom.

When the homeowner arrived and confronted the trespasser with his two German Shepherds, the suspect locked the door and called 911 for help at about 7 p.m. The suspect said he feared the homeowner might have a gun.

The homeowner also called 911. Police responded with their own K-9 unit and took 24-year-old Timothy James Chapek into custody on a criminal trespassing charge.
