Be careful what you buy second-hand, because you never know what is lurking inside. A Richmond, Virginia man learned that lesson early on Wednesday morning when a snake apparently slithered out of a chair he received nearly a week earlier.
Barrett Edwards says he was in bed watching TV inside his home when he got up to use the bathroom. Upon exiting the bathroom he saw a boa constrictor coiled up on top of a bathroom vent. "I turned around and there was a snake right there," Edwards says.
Edwards says watched the snake for a couple of minutes to figure out what he was going to do. He then called for his mother, ran downstairs and called 911. Richmond Police officers arrived at the home and put the snake in a pillow case.
Police believe the snake had been hiding in the coils of a chair a friend of Edwards recently gave him. Police returned the snake, named Buddy, to its owner who says he plans on returning it to a pet store.

That's a ball python, not a boa constrictor.
I'll be sure to look down the back of the sofa tonight :)
