Children learning about Stone Age man in a German classroom ended up in tears and one fainted when their teacher killed two rabbits in front of their eyes with a hammer.
"They didn't have a supermarket to go to," he told the 10 and 11-year-olds at the Cesar-Klein-School in Ratekau in northern Germany. "So this is how they did it."
The teacher then grilled the rabbits - formerly petting zoo inhabitants that the children were encouraged to stroke to 'bond' with - and made the children eat bits of them. Angry parents flooded the school with complaints and signed a petition along with their children condemning the "barbarity" of the lesson.
The education ministry in Kiel that oversees schools in the state has decreed that there should be no repeat of the incident while the state's parents' association condemned the lesson as "perverse." But no disciplinary action has been taken against the killer teacher.

How could they think this was appropriate for children? .
I'm guessing he used flints to build a fire for grilling the rabbits in the classroom. Because there were no Foreman grills and that's how they did it in the Stone Age.
...in the classroom that he built out of sticks and rocks with his own hands and his homemade flint tools.
hare today gone tomorrow
This is bad, but it could have been much worse.
First Europeans were cannibals with taste for children
Just because people used to do something doesn't mean we should do it today.
The teacher sounds a bit like a sick freak to me.
Nasty. I don't suppose the cavemen kept the animals in a petting zoo and bonded with them before killing them.
That's disgusting. Does he think children have no imagination? No feelings for the rabbits after they've been encouraged to bond with them? What about vegetarian families?
