Hunter says, “I didn't see him. He smelled me; waiting for me I believe that". Police have released photos of Hunter’s near fatal injuries from the attack in 2008.
His father, Tim Blackwood, describes what happened to his son then. “My son hospitalised for 5 days, 100 stitches." When Hunter’s mother got the news she was beside herself. Gina Blackwood says, "I thought this can't be happening again."

As part of this investigation Roseville Animal Control officers wanted the dog quarantined. Generally being outside would be fine but the Akita is just too powerful for the 4-foot fence to contain while his owner is away at work. The dog has now been transferred to Macomb County's animal facility.

When I lived in Florida there was sort of an arms race of dogs. Rottweilers replaced Dobermans which were replaced with Pit Bulls as assholes looked for meaner and more vicious animals - "for protection". Akitas were the next big thing, growing as large as 200 lbs they were breed to fight. The only reason I know of that there has not been an explosion of them is the breeders are afraid of getting the reputation pit bulls have so they limit the breeding & charge very high prices.
What is there to investigate? This dog bit the same kid twice. It can't be trusted, and obviously neither can the owner. It's time to confiscate (and, sadly, probably euthanize... but that's the owner's fault, not the dog's).
