Dozy burglar sniffed out under duvet by Led Zeppelin the police dog

Led Zeppelin helped catch a burglar who broke into a home in Barnet, North London one snowy evening last December and fell asleep under a duvet.

Robert Erdei, 36, of Camden, was found by a sniffer dog named after the legendary rock group after a neighbour heard him moving a bin at the house in Friern Mount Drive. He looked out of the window and saw footprints on the roof and called in police, watching the property until police arrived with a sniffer dog.

As they got there the owner of the house arrived home and let the dog in. Erdei was discovered hiding under a duvet in an upstairs bedroom. He was arrested for burglary and was found to have gloves, a screwdriver and a crowbar on him.

Detective Constable Tom Collins said: "Erdei attempted to hide, but in the end a duvet is no match for Led Zeppelin the sniffer dog so he was caught red handed and cowering under cover." Last Thursday at Wood Green Crown Court Erdei was jailed for four years for burglary with intent to steal.

I had to read that twice, as it was a little ambiguous. I couldn't figure out why the sniffer dog would fall asleep under the duvet!
