Dog that ran away from home entered half marathon, raising over $15,000 for cancer research

A 3-year-old goldendoodle ran away from his home and ended up running most of the Maryland Half Marathon last month.

Dozer got out of his yard and joined runners near his home at the five mile mark of the race through Howard and Baltimore Counties back on May 15.

Runners saw him throughout the race. He crossed the finish line at the 2 hour 14 minute mark before finding his way back home.

Race officials later gave Dozer a medal for running in the half marathon. And now his family have set up a fundraising page to benefit the University of Maryland's Greenebaum Cancer Center. So far Dozer has raised more than $15,000.
