Deputies began investigating the convenience store clerk after the father of a 12-year-old boy found him with a pack of cigarettes earlier this month.
Bryant sold the boy cigarettes at least five times over a two month period, in exchange for spanking the boy on his buttocks with his clothes on to gratify Bryant's sexual desires.
Deputies say Bryant also sold smokeless tobacco to two 15-year-old boys on May 10 after spanking them in the same manner. Bryant is charged with three counts of lewd act upon a child under age 16. He is awaiting a bond hearing at the Lexington County jail.

If a man spanks his own son, is it also a lewd act upon a child under age 16 or must the father also get sexual gratification from the act for him to be charged for a sex crime? How would the police know?
