Thieves make off with giant knitted bobble hat

A giant knitted bobble hat adorning one of Leeds city centre’s traffic light system junction boxes has been stolen.

Two people, one wearing the hat, were caught on CCTV walking through the city with the art work, previously outside Jamie’s Italian.

The hat is part of an art project by Situation Leeds, a public art scheme by Leeds Met Gallery & Studio Theatre, called Junction.

Anita Morris, spokeswoman for the project, said: “The hat was pretty heavy and was weighted down so whoever took it must have been pretty strong and motivated. We just want the hat to come back as quickly as possible.”

And there's me, a Leeds lad, knowing nothing of this. mind you, I also didn't know that Jamie Oliver had a fancy burger-bar here either.
Most of our traffic light control boxes sport no knitted apparrel.
I kind of prefer them that way. Naked.
